Update: John Cena’s scary Wrestlemania moment- What if she says no?

John Cena came close to tears this morning when he appeared on “Good Morning Britain” talking about the moment he proposed at WrestleMania.

In front of 75,000 fans in Florida and millions watching worldwide, Cena got down on one knee after a match and popped the question to fellow wrestler Nikki Bella.

Thankfully she said yes, and the couple are now busy planning their wedding. Speaking to Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid on the hit ITV show, Cena got emotional when speaking about that special moment.

“I was extremely nervous, because the audience controls or program, and this was a match with 75,000 people,” Cena said. “You get to the point where you think ‘man this is a good idea’, but then you’re like ‘what if they say no.'”

The footage from April’s WrestleMania 33 was then replayed, and it left Cena welling up.

On one knee, in the ring after he and Bella had just defeated The Miz and Maryse he said: “I’ve been waiting so long to ask you this, Stephanie Nicole Garcia Colace, will you marry me?”

As he watched the footage back, Cena blinked hard to try and hold back the tears from the special moment.

“It was the best moment of my life, and I couldn’t think of a better place to do it,” Cena said. “The WWE has been my family for the past 15 years, we have such a strong connection to our audience. The crazy thing about that moment was that I was in a match, before that, and if you watch the match back, the audience hated me.

“But it was such a show of respect that once the performance was over, they realize this is a moment we are both going to remember for our lives.”

Morgan then asked Cena what he would have done if she had said “no”, to which the wrestling legend responded: “I put her in an environment where she couldn’t say no.”
