Manchester United Cancel Star Signing Because Of Sanchez And Lukaku

MANCHESTER UNITED have been forced to abandon transfer plans for a certain star player - because of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez.

Both stars made the move to Old Trafford this season at differing points in the year.

Lukaku joined the Red Devils in the summer from Everton for £75m, making him the club’s second-most expensive player behind Paul Pogba.

And Sanchez left Arsenal for United in January after snubbing Manchester City in a deal that saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan move the other way.

Jose Mourinho is set to make big improvements to the squad again this summer, but one target will no longer be on his shortlist.

Antoine Griezmann was hotly touted to make the switch to the Theatre of Dreams last summer and again in January.

But the club opted for the aforementioned players instead, as the French forward signed a new deal with Atletico Madrid.

However, the former Real Sociedad striker still looks likely to leave the Spanish club this summer.

Barcelona are leading the chase for the 27-year-old - but reports have it that United will not go up against them.

Mourinho is adamant no attacking signings will be made this transfer window because there simply is no room.

With the signings of Lukaku and Sanchez, there is now an abundance of offensive talent at United.

As well as the duo, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard all remain on the club’s books.

Instead, a new central midfielder and a left-back are the priorities for the Portuguese manager.
